This is one of the better props I’ve seen made on instructables (not the best portal gun, mind you.) but I suggest you give it a try if you are a portal fan like myself. Side effects may vary.

I’m sure we all remember this game fondly from our childhood, well here is a good excuse to bring it back!

As most of you know I love “Fallout” and so naturally I love Fallout stuff.

No fallout scenario is complete without a box of “Blamco” mac & cheese!
“The most useless machine EVER!” And you want one, trust me.

So Kinect is here (and sitting pretty in my living room) and it far surpasses any expectations I had. But one thing I keep seeing is the demand for “hardcore” games, firstly, I have some personal issues with this:
What is a hardcore gamer, you ask? Well the way it would appear is a group of people who are dedicated gamers who play only M rated games. My gripe with this is that if you are described as being a hardcore anything it means that you do it a lot, you may even be good at it. It shouldn’t be a term that is applied just to those who play violent games look at people like Steve Weibe, He has spent year trying to get the highest score in “Donkey Kong” Not months getting tenth prestige on “Call Of Duty”. That is “hardcore” and all around awesome. But that isn’t what this article is about.

At some point we abandoned Mario, Sonic, Ico, Oddworld, and the likes. For these “hardcore” games of today, don’t get me wrong I love killing people/zombies/aliens/mutants MORE than the next guy but nothing can beat simplicity and good design like the games of old. Basically, a game can be about kittens and flowers but if the actual gameplay is good then why damn it just because your not driving a tank into a crowd of zombies while getting a blowjob from topless women screaming “fuck the police!” (even though the latter sounds awesome).

I don’t need violence in my games to enjoy them, and the thought that violence is the only selling point to some people makes me lose faith in the gaming community. As stated before I love violence, (as terrible as that sounds) I want things to be gruesome, the thought of plunging an electric turkey slicer into someones face, or shooting some innocent douchebag in the testicles just because I don’t like his shirt, and so on. The evolution of the gamer seems to be heading towards “Idiocracy” levels.

The point to all of this is the content of the game should and does not hinder the games ability to deliver a solid, fun, and competitive experience. But for all you “hardcore” gamers out there here are some Kinect games to cater to your hardcore sensibilities:
CODENAME D:

I was unable to find any good videos of it, but the trailer debut at the 2010 Tokyo game show. It is a survival horror game made by the same studio that brought us “Killer 7”, expect a lot from this one Suda 51 doesn’t play around.
RISE OF NIGHTMARES:
STEEL BATTALION: HEAVY ARMOR:
This is promising, Steel Battalion was an original Xbox game way ahead of its time, it was the first to really try and sell you a two hundred dollar peripheral a full “control panel” to a mech called a “vertical tank”. It had everything from a fire extinguisher button, fuel flow controls, eject, and many more. With 40 buttons, three pedals and a control stick you knew you were in for one hell of a ride.

Sadly (but thankfully) there is no $200 controller this time around just you and Kinect.
